FX5 & 405 maintenance

how often do you have to maintain (clean/ reload with media) an Fx5 and also the fluval 405 .

i rinse the sponges and media on my 404s every three months i have two on my 75 so i alternate , there is no need to replace media tho just remember to keep it wet

...that is unless you're using carbon or ammonia chips. But ditto for the rest.

I rinse the sponges once a month and alternate rinseing the bio in the baskets

i use a product called pura complete (as well as other media) and on my 75 i chnge media once every 4 months, only rinsing the sponges/filter floss.

I don't see the point of ammonia chips. Biomedia lasts forever and does the same thing.

I haven't changed the sponges on my 404 yet, and I've had it for around 9-10 months. I clean them thoroughly with aquarium water every few months though.
