Great find. They are wrong though about price difference. I just got my Eheim Pro 3 for $320 w/ media, but haven't found anything close to that in a deal for an Fx5

I wouldn't say better by reading this article. I think if you are after a strong mechanical filter than the fx5 is your filter. If you are more concerned about biological than I would go with the fx5.

Im not seeing it - with twice the bio capacity Eheim could only give you two days advantage to convert 4ppm of ammonia to Nitrate. I would expect something would have to be better with that much extra bio. And as long as its gone, whats does it matter if it two days faster? that dosent mean much actually.

The other part is pump ratings - Fluval rates give the pump rating at 3500 LPH/925GPH...thats the pump only. 607 GPH (2300LPH) with the baskets.

I would think they should be rating it at the 2300 LPH and then break it down by percentage and their results. 1991 LPH results / 2300 LPH = 86%

Its not clear what Eheims actual pump rating is and if thats with or without media. Makes a difference.

Nice pictures however....still like the build of the Fx5 anyway. And prices are down to sub- $200 levels. Not sure about the Eheim but Im sure they went down as well...

the fluval does cost twice as much to run though and that is a huge deciding factor. You are getting a great filter in the pro 3 with half the electricity cost.

So what your saying is that the fx5 is best in both?? I think you mean III 2080 on the biological performance. Nice article though.
