How many boxes of fluval biomax will i need to fill up all three trays of my Fx5. I bought 5 boxes of the 500g or 17.63oz biomax media. Will i have to get more orwill this be enough. I dont want to overfill the trays but i would like to keep as much as possible in each tray. Thanks

From what I remember it's 3 of the boxes per basket. So gonna take 9 total. You won't need that much though, better setup would to just fill the bottom two baskets with bio and fill the top with filter floss for water polishing and too help keep the biomax clean.
ok thanx guys i appreciate it. Im goin to buy one more and i got the courser filter pads and finer pads to play around with as well so ill just tweek it untill its perfect.
You don't want to fill the baskets more than half way each. The impeller on the FX5 is very strong and if the flow gets blocked at all you'll have micro-bubbles from cavitation. It's a good filter, but I find I have to clean it more often than my other canisters for this reason. The polishing pad or filter floss will get clogged very quickly if you keep messy fish like I do.
ok thanx im gunna prob use 2 500g boxes in each wit a courser pad at the top to stop debris from gettn in the biomax
