FX5 build up help?

My attachments that are submerged in the water seem to form a build up on them after about 3 days of being in the water should I buy new ones? Does anyone else have experience with this?

What kind of build up?
On the equipment or in it?
Color of the build up?

on the attachments of the tube to the plastic of the water diffuser and the intake.

and its chalky colored when I rub it off into the water

what color is the chaulky color you speak of ? if its brown, then its algae.

It forms much heavier and faster on the attachments than it does on the rocks or the glass of the tank

is ur tank a saltwater tank? are the chalky stuff pinkish red brown?

this is a freshwater tank. And yes I do clean it I am just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Sounds like calcium buildup to me. Do you have hard water?
