I built a 1in pvc to a 3/4in x 48in nipple and drill 46 1/4in holes . The spray bar is the length of the 60x18x24 tank ,and was wondering will this harm the FX5 Filter in the long run.
And I have also a dual 1in intake that I can also use with this filter ?
I just didn't want to ruin a new filter .

What do you think?

I am setting up a 210g right now with 2 FX5's. I decided to use the stock strainer, intake and hose. But on my output I will end up with a UV and in-line heater. I am making sure to keep all the pipe diameters large so that flow will not be affected. I too am going to be making a spray bar (30" for each one) and will drill out 1/4" holes every 1" so it should not damage the pump. There are plenty of people who have made these mods and not damaged the FX5. Just make sure to maintain the proper diameter throughout.

I was under the impression that restricting the output of the sorts of pumps used in the FX5, and even like mag drive pond pumps, can't harm them, it's the restricting of input that is bad. is that wrong?

Here you see my spray bar, the holes are not particularly big, should i make them bigger? I like having the water come out with a bit of pressure, vs. dribbling out
