I have 3 fx5's. They arnt all brand new.

The flow rate of one of them is so much higher than the other 2. It is very noticeable

Can anyone tell me what i can do or tip on cleaning the impeller maybe to increase the flow rate

They are all stocked up with the same amount of media so i dont think that is the issue.

Are all the hoses the same with the same intake and outputs? Have you inspected the impellers on the the two lower flow ones for damage?

I just bought one. And i know fx5 require a lot of maintenence because they do a really good job. Ive heard the media needs cleaning 1 or 2 times a month. Just search the FX5 user manual on google and that helped me understand this beast a lot better.

If you use the fine micron white pad then yes they clog quick, otherwise you should be able to go at least 2-3 months before a maintenance clean.

Ironically i filled up the top tray with the white filter floss which honestly may be whats causing teh issue. Also the hoses are a good idea to check aswell. Thank you guys for the input!

Thats why I dont use them. :) Currently im just using the outside foam and bio media in all the trays but only cycling so not much junk getting in there right now.

To clean the impeller to the FX5 is simple, empty and clean the filter housing on the side with the motor are 4 screws loosen the screws and pull the motor from there you can pull and clean the impeller
