Around.....
So i did a 50% water change today and the whole time the FX5 was on (Which i usually do) and then a 10-15 min after i finished everything i can here it seem to have air or something locked in the chamber... just my guess. So i unplug it and plug it back it. This is the first time i have had ANY problems with it.

IME, its best to unplug your fx5 when you do water changes.
+1

But, if you read the filtration forum, a LOT of people swear by leaving it running. I have always turned mine off, and have never had any problems.

I never had that problem until just last week when I did my water change. I opened it up to add some carbon and when I was done it had some air stuck in it. I just tightened to lid and waited and it went away.

Haha! One time, I forgot to re-tighten one of the top screws. Didn't realize it til the next water change! And no, it didn't leak, thankfully!

It wasn't even snapped into the "up" position.

I always unplug mine when I do a water change. And then plug it back in after wards. I have never had this happen.

well looks like i will be unplugging from now on i unplugged it last night and i just tightened the screws hope it goes away!

I leave my two on and have no problems as long as you dont let the water get close to the level of the intake,as it will start to suck in air,my xp3 does this when i go a bit too low.

Open up your fx 5 look at bottom pad prob be clogged and any other pads you may be running. FX5s dont like having even semi blocked pads. If you are running more than one pad i dont think this is a good idea. I only run one in bottom of bottom tray.
