Fx5 help

So I've been running with carbon and peat granules in the first two compartments of my Fx5 and Biomax in the last. I want to refresh my media and make it more efficient. I've been reading that carbon is basically useless unless you are treating for chemicals.

What type of filter media do you use?

What do you suggest I fill my Fx5 with?

carbon needs to be replaced very often! its nice but not necessary at all..
most people just fill the FX5 with bio media. i.e. biomax, etc etc..

pond matrix (or purigen/ peat if you want )in the second tray and if you want maybe some 20 ppi foam in the bottom tray (for finer filtration without the headaches of the fine pads)

Edit and obviously keep the bio that is there.

I would order a sheet of 20 ppi foam from the link in my sig and cut nnew sponges for around the baskets to replace the original ones
