Gonna be setting up an FX5. Current thought is to have the 'out' hose running about 3' straight up to one end of my 8' tank and the 'in' hose running all the way from the other end so probably 9' or so.
I don't see much point in putting the FX5 unit halfway down the tank and matching the hose lengths because that'll introduce more friction and reduce the flow.
Well, that's my thinking anyway. The question is: is there any flaw in my logic?
BTW, the FX5 isn't the only filter - in fact it's only being added for mechanical filtration, there's already a sump with 2 pumps handling the biological but the overflows on this tank only take water from the top of the tank so crud is building up on the floor.
