I want to change my fx5 intake (the tube is fine, its just the grid thing at the bottom of the intake) as they look too bulky and dont find them appealing.... Anyone have any ideas.

i dont like the tubing or the intake. maybe you could shove a strainer into the end.

Anything else will be restrictive. I don't find them bulky. You are moving 600 Gallons an hour of water.

i hear what you're saying but to tamper with a well-built filter is like buying a new bmw and deciding to change out the carburator because you think you can improve performance. i'm not sure it's worth the trouble, but good luck with your efforts.

Not necessarily modern BMW's all come with fuel injection. Also I had an e36 m3 I popped an extra 40 Horsepower out of reprogramming the CPU exhaust intake camshafts etc :)

My point is there is always room for improvement even on BMW's :headbang2

fk bmw... so much problems just cause it was assembled in USA. Only BMW's in Europe are flawless..

ok, so we have beemer technicians in the house!!! cool, but we're really talking about the fx5. i was just attempting to make an analogy.

I was talking about the FX5 too. Some might say there is no room /need for improvement. I say there is almost always room for improvement even with BMW and Fluval and Eheim :)

And I was just following up that analogy a bit with some monster logic but still pressing the point that there is always room for improvement.

if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
