fx5 issue.... HELP

Hey guys,

So I just did a filter maintenance today. Like the usual, when I clean my fx5, I always start by releasing some water from the purging outlet on the bottom. After I take it over to the tub and clean the inside while I wash the media with the tank water. After finishing up, I took it back under my stand and filled it up about 80% and connected the lid. I fasten the bolts and turned on the filter. It was making this loud "buzz" which it usually does not make. I was stressing out so I just turned it off and on. The noise decreased so I thought hey lets turn it off and on again. WRONG.. sh*t doesn't even turn on... what do you guys think I should do ? Wait till the morning? Whats going to happen to all the BB in there? Fck man I'm stressing like crazy because I had this fx5 for about 6 months only.. Did I do something wrong ? Is the impeller broken? Man I need some help and fast. Anyone with a fx5 can help me, I would really appreciate it! PLEASE
 
I think so. Is it easy to clean the impeller? I just need to match the parts back correctly together right? Thanks so much.
 
It is easy to clean the impeller. Unfortunately, it requires you to drain the filter and will likely involve removing the media trays (though this is not necessary). Hopefully that will solve the problem.
 
this happeneds to mine almost every time i clean the filter. just remove the impeller clean it and there you go. You can test to make sure the impeller moves right while its disconnected by plugging it in for about 2 seconds. If it spins all is good if not you have another problem.
 
YESSS!!! I purchased a new screw driver and took my time cleaning out the impeller. Man o man was it completed covered in gunk. After cleaning it up, I put water in the canister and plugged the cord. TA DAHH!!! Man that feeling was amazing! I was in so much stress because of this nonsense! I was having such a great day purchasing a new tv, futon, and keyboard from black friday sales and decided to clean my fx5 and then that happened.. I couldn't even sleep yesterday guys... MAN I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW, IM ABOUT TO ROLL A FAT ONE UP !!! ^.^
