Hello,

Recently got my first fx5. Was excited. Now I am not.

It is set up correctly, i have read the manual, watched videos, etc. Hoses are perfectly straight, everything is done right...while new to this filter, I have run canisters from fluval, xps, etc for years, with no issues.

My problem: The out put...is leaking very little, like a drop every minute. All the connections are as tight as they can be, the hose clamp is tight, I have had it at the top and bottom of where the hose and filter connect, and just cannot get rid of this leak. The filter is up and running, but this leak concerns me, and at this point, now just pisses me off. Any thoughts or tips would really be appreciated as I am losing it over here.

Any questions I will try to answer as best as I can, but from what I can see, all is set up perfectly, I feel as though this should be simple but...

thanks mfk

Ok so my fluval had the same problem. Not sure if this might help with the output. But maybe buy a new o ring, the rubber ring you put inside of the canister to keep it air/water tight. But before you buy a new one try lubing the ring with some sort of Chapstick or patrollium jelly. I bought a new o ring and it stopped leaking and is in perfect condition. Good luck my friend

Seems to be leaking where the tube connects to the L-piece. The in between the filter and tube piece is that make sense. Not good.

So it's leaking where you connect the end of the hose to the shut off valve where the hose clamp is?

I wouldnt use petrolium based lub on any o-rings..they dry them out in the long run, get some plumbers grease, it is food safe and silicon based so no drying and it is water tight

If the hose side of the valve is leaking try tightening the clamp with a ratchet, if the valve is leaking on the lid side replace the 2 o-rings. You can get the o-rinfs at hardware stores for around $.30.

You may mave a small cut in your hose if you cranked down to hard on the hose clamp.
