Hey my FX5 is pretty quiet except the lil humming noises but a couple of days ago after a water change its making all these wierd loud noises as if there' waves hitting the inside of it. usually after water changes it makes a bit of bubble noises but it leave soon after. its been 4 days now and its pretty annoying. the only thing that stops it is when i close the outtake for a bit and reopen it. its quiet for 15-30 mins and then restarts... what can i do?!
thanx:headbang2

It might have air trapped in the hoses , it has happened to me with a little buzzing and all i did was to unplug from the mains and aload of bubbles came out of the return pipe and then after the bubbles stopped i plugged it back in and it was fine .

It usually does this for a good day or so after initially setting it up when first buying, or after cleaning. It usually fixes itself. ALOT of water inside those babies. Great Filter.

Same thing happend to me sounded like there was a water fall inside the thing make sure it is full to the brim with water before you plug it in, thats what i did and it seemed to help since moved it to a new tank, and it still makes noises. Always seems to be a gurgling bubbly sound to it not loud but its there, maybe thats just how they are never heard another one so cant compare seems to be doing the job though water is clear and levels are zero....

alright guys. 2 days ago i was going crazy from all the noises n i couldnt sleep all night. so finally yesterday i filled water in my fx5 till the MAX and i must say super QUIET! no more wave noises! i still hear a lil humming noise but i guess thats normal. so for other ppl who have this problem just fill water in it until u cant anymore...

You shouldn't have too fill it was that much water....It should purge... Weird.

I just set up my fx5 and it runs comletely silent as of now, so I would say generally they are pretty quiet!
