fx5 major issues help asap

I recently bought and installed a used fx5, after running for about 10 min it over flowed all over the house, oops, i tried re closing everything tightly same deal. please help !!

Where exactly is the water coming from.. ??? you know what part of the filter..

from the top of the canister where it meets the lid by the 8 "screws"

Is the O ring installed? Properly installed?

i just rechecked the o ring and resealed the canister now no leak and no water is returning to the tank ....

Do you know how old the canister is? I know you've probably checked, but do you have the intake and outflow hooked up correctly? Did you fill the canister with water before sealing the lid again? Are the inflow or outflow valves shut?

I do not know how old it is, craigslist object, in and out are on the appropriate sides, all valves open
