Ok i recently got an FX5 and installed it in my 70 gallon tank. It works great but there is this slurping noise every now and then.

I check the instructions and everything is in order. The tube length and the connection point of intake and outtake are correct. There is no airstone at the intake and no airbubbles coming out of the output nozzle.

Please help with this noise. The tank is located in my room and i can't get to sleep with that slurping sound. I thought FX5 is supposed to be virtually soundless?

I suspect the noise comes from the bioballs at my top media basket. Gonna try switching it to the 2nd one to see if it works

how long have you had it running now? it automatically shuts off for 2-4 minutes every 24 hours to let all the trapped air out. Are the connections on the filter tight? is the lid tight enough. I know that's common sense but i run 3 - FX5 filters and only have that problem on initial 5 minute start up once i plug it in and it bleeds itself out.

how long have you had it running now? - 4 hours
Are the connections on the filter tight? - Yes, I screw an extra turn at the aquastop valve connecion just to be sure and at the intake/output valve, I added cable ties around the rubbery connections.

Ok the noise is officially blamed on the bioballs being at the top media basket, I switch it to the 2nd media basket and now it's quiet to the max!

My fx5 used to make clicking noises because of the bio balls,i also moved them in to the second basket and it is a lot quieter now so you should be ok now

Gonna replace those bioballs soon though. I only have them from my old canister filter to seed the BB onto my matrix.

Yup I'm using Stress Zyme too. But i doubt it is as efficient as it is not in a concentrated form, hence refrigiration isn't required.
