I know I know it's been done. But I want to ask myself. Whats in your Fx5???

Just broke down and got a Fx5:naughty:. Not really sure what to do with it yet. I am replacing a sump on my 75 gallon freshwater tank. One O and plants is the stocking.
My water has high nitrates and I am looking to utilize the filter for the most efficient means.
Currently I have:
Top tray-carbon, chem-pure, polish pad, and green army men.
mid tray-carbon, chem-pure, polish pad, and green army men.
bottom tray-carbon, chem-pure, polish pad, purigen, and green army men.

Ok here is what I am thinking:
top tray-Army Men, purigen, and rite size polishing pad.
mid tray-chem pure, carbon pad, and rite size polishing pad.
bottom tray-chem pure, carbon pad, and rite size polishing pad.

What do you guys think?

set it up however you want... but make sure it is easy to clean without disturbing the biological media to much. you only need one polishing pad.. three is a bit of an overkill.

Lol this aint no toy story man, u dont need to use ghetto plastic toys as biological filtration, try buying fluval "BIOMAX," Much more practical. And carbon isnt nesecarry unless ur getting rid of meds or chems. Id go with mechanical filtration 1st (sponges) then all bio media and if u want the top tray can have a polishing pad, but 2-3 pads will greatly reduce ur gph! Mech bio bio

I was waiting for a toy reference. I have some of the bio max should that go in the top tray?

Yes id maybe have 2 trays of bio and all ur mech filtration in the bottom tray (sponges) and if u wanna polish use top tray. once the bio is seeded the BB will do wonders that carbon COULD NEVER DO!

Im an xp4 man but same concept!

I have mine filled with biomax, getting a 125gallon sump on tuesday, so ill probably try running one with just polishing pads and cleaning it out once a week.
