I have read alot about these microbubbles from an fx5 but after having one for a year iv never experianced it... untill now!

I believe the solution is simple... keep the top tray half empty!!!

I will explain:

If you look on the underside of the lid there is a small tube running from the out to the middle of the filter, this is the air release tube

Air being less dense than water will rise and collect in the middle top of the filter, on the daily 2min shutdown, this air will be released through that tube into the oulet thus removing the air

Problem with microbubbles:
I believe that with the top compartment full the end of the tube gets blocked / air flow is hindered (the pocket may be to 1 side) so small bits come out slowly causing this issue

Solution: Keep the top half basket empty... no obstruction for air
ALSO!! When you have primed the filter, let it run for 2min and during its 2min off (only after maintainance) tip the filter about 30deg up with the outlet higher than the inlet

This will encourage the air to flow up the tube and out of the filter you will see the bubbles, when the bubbles stop you should have an air free filter and no more bubbles

Will provide pics on request (dont feel like taking filter apart again tonight)

This is not the problem, although could be another cause. With the top tray full, you will still have plenty of room at the top for air to collect under the lid just fine.

Micro Bubbles is mainly caused by Cavitation. When the suction side of the impeller is blocked by clogged media, the pressure of the water at the impellers eye decreases cause a rapid release of dissolved gases. Basically removing oxygen and Co2 from the water.

There is a thread on this... I'll see if I can find it. I explained all about it.

Air does not flow out of that purge tube while the pump is running. The pressure in the discharge side is greater than in the suction side (inside the canister) so water actually flow at very high velocity from the output, through the purge tube and into the canister.

Solution: Keep the top half basket empty... no obstruction for air
Keeping it full will not obstruct air.
ALSO!! When you have primed the filter, let it run for 2min and during its 2min off (only after maintainance) tip the filter about 30deg up with the outlet higher than the inlet
Tipping the canister will move the air pocket away from the purge tube.

Solving this issues is not using fine filtration pads. Modifying the filter will also solve the issue.
