my fx5 is making a humming sound it still works fine but i like to sit in front my tank in the middle of the night in the dark starring at my fish and the humming is driving me crazy.
I like it to be quiet as possible and only like to hear the sound of water, i stopped using my air pump because it was making too much noise. I took apart the motor and cleaned it 2-3 times already i think the 1st time i cleaned it, it stopped humming for afew days then the humming came right back. I run 3 fx5's and the other 2 make no noise. any ideas on the problem and how to fix it? the filters sit on a foam type padding and i checked to make sure the filter isn't rubbing against anything, checked the baskets to see if any of the bio media is loose inside, water output pressure is still good, lid is on tight, im thinking it might be the rubber O-ring inside the motor i did get the filter used so i don't know how old it is.
