Have any of you put an FX5 on a 75 gallon? I have had one for quite a while and it filtered a 125 gallon tank just fine. I'm a bit worried though about putting it on a 75 gallon tank. I'm thinking that the current could be an issue. I have 2 AC110s that I could put on the tank instead, but I'm a huge fan of the FX5s.

i say go for it.
on my 75g i have 2 ac70 and a fluval 304, lol. thats like 220 gallons worth of filtering on a 75g tank. theres no such thing as overfiltering. i also have 2 bubblestones in there which means that i have RIDICULOUS water flow, the top of the water moves around like its boiling, but the fish like it and it keeps the water oxygenated.

The current being an issue depends on the fish more pirana would love it. A betta would hate it. It is a bit overkill but some of us have fx5's on our 55 gallons :)
My African cichlids are in a 90 tall with over 1000 gallons per hour and a luft pump air stone and they love it so I say go for it.

Hi D.S,
I have an fx 5 on a 40 gallon, lol i even had to cut the inlet tube cause the tank is too shallow my oscars dont mind the flow at all .

I would think two AC110s would create more current then a single FX5.

I may try the 2 AC110s first, but I like the idea of one FX5 on it.

I have a Fx5 on a 55 gallon. With the dual nozzles, don't worry about the current. IF you go with a single nozzle, just point it toward the glass a bit to distribute the flow in all directions.

Ok thanks. I'm thinking that I will go ahead and put it on the 75 gallon tank.
