Hey everyone. My 180 plexi tank has two 1" holes drilled in each back corner of the tank. Will the standard fx5 tubing fit? And will there be any issues securing the inlet and outlet in the tank? Thanks in advance

The standard tubing should fit, but it will be close. The tubing is something like .850" inside diameter and pretty close to an inch outside diameter. I use 1" OD vinyl tubing on one of my fx5s and it fits perfectly through one of the 1 inch holes on my 300 acrylic, so it should be pretty close if not exactly the same. I would imagine if anything the standard fx5 tubing would be thinner than the vinyl. And there shouldn't be any issues securing the intake and outputs. Hope that helps.

You could also just plumb it through the hole with a bulkhead. I am planning on doing the same thing to my 300.

I'm not sure what brand it is. I think it is a truvu although there is no label on the front panel where they usually place one. It's a reef ready tank that has the holes drilled for heaters I'm guessing. I'm looking mainly boost mechanical filtration and have heard that fx5 is pretty good for that purpose. I currently run a sump and a xp3.

On a side note- Does the intake and output attach to the back wall with suction cups? If so, do they hold pretty well, or are they prone to popping loose?

Thanks again for all the feedback. In all honesty, I'd prefer to go with a 2260/2262 eheim, but the price of the fx5 is hard to beat

i drilled a 2 1/4" holes for my intake and return 2" should work i drilled those size hole because thats the size hole saw bit i had and they work great with the over the tanks clips that come with the filter the return doesnt use suction cups as the factory clip is what holds it in position the intake does but i cant tell you how well they hold because my GG always pulls on it till the suction cups break their seal
