I had a used FX5 that just starting doing this today... I was windering if anyone knew why it would start doing this?

If flow was restricted a bit, over time could this do damage to the motor? Or overheat it?

Does the FX5 have a built in anti-overheating protection or is the motor going bad?

THanks!

Just as long the motor does not run dry.
I've read that, the fx5 comes with a chipset and regulates motor power.

Yes, this is true. It has a built in micro processor that does this...

But my question is about the 4 attempts to run and then shutting down.

I pulled the motor today and the compartment was fine and clean and the impeller was fine as well. But I pulled the impeller from the motor and plugged it in really quickly and hear a faint buzzing noise that was in the same pattern as the impeller spinning 4 times and then shutting down and then cycling through that again....

Any suggestions? It was Manufactured in March of 2006. So I don't think that is covered any longer. I was thinking of pulling it apart and bypassing the motherboard....

have u unhooked it and hooked it back up. mine did this when i accidentlly hooked up the input to the output.... make sure ur valves are open all the way as well.

Hmm.Seems like an isolated situation.
Never heard about the FX5 doing that before. Try cleaning and re-redoing the connections again. Making sure everything is where it is suppose to be.

Sorry, I cannot help much.

I'm not an idiot Dude!

It's doing it when I have the motor Out as well...

He's just trying to help bro, hell I hooked mine up backwards just the other day. Hell I even forgot to close one of my valves a little bit ago when taking off the hose and before that when fiilling my other one noticed a puddle on the floor realized I forgot to close the drain plug. My point is **** happens people make mistakes and forget things he was just seeing if you had.

I would suggest giving Hagen a call and see what they think.
