sometimes when i do wc, i use the purge valve on the fx to pump water out. Its much quicker than syphon.

just wondered, does this flush out some b.bacteria, as the water passes over the media and out of the canister?

(probably doesn't as it would be a crap design, but wanted to check with anyone on the mfk forums)

thanks

bacteria grows in and on the media not the water. i don't find it necessary to use the purge valve ever but whatever floats ur boat i guess.

On my 125's and 250 g I've always used the FX5 purge valve in addition to the syphon hose in the tank. It'd take forever otherwise. You're fine, it won't affect the BB at all.
