FX5 question; yes I watched the DVD!!!!

Just got my FX5 for my 150 gallon. The filter is taller than i expected....Listed as 17" tall but they do not include the Valves in the measurement. I have 18.5" of clearance around the frame on the stand but 22" internally. The unit fits. Barely. I can fit the hoses on but cannot maintain a totally straight path from the water to the filter. The hoses will have to curve upward slightly to reach the valves once past the frame. Total rise is under 1.5". There will be no loops in the hose. I am not worried about the return. Will the hose placement effect the pumping into the tank?? can I use the filter????????????

Hope you are right!! Anyone else? I have a NIB filter and I do not want to set it up and fail. It will not be new anymore!!

Not slack...a slight rise....I was not worried about a little slack!

that dvd makes it seem way too complicated, i followed everything on that dvd paying attention to details. Big waste of time.
