fx5 question.

Good Morning,

I'm about to order new filter media from amazon. I currently use the factory rec. media for the fx5 minus the polishing pad.

I've been reading that it's best to use the most bio for this unit which makes sense.

But what about the sponge filter on the outer perimeter of the baskets? Is it best to take them out, fill it with bio, or just buy new ones.

I leave mine in for mechanical filtering, all the baskets I will with rings.

Leave the outer sponges for some mechanical filtration. You shouldn't need to replace these very often, they should last years unless you really beat them up.

Thanks, that's what i figured. And these 3 packs on amazon? Wouldn't that equate to 1 and a half baskets? Weird, but I ordered 2.
