So I started re-cycling my tank on Thursday, I've got a Marineland canister on it, along with my FX5. For some odd reason my FX5 will be going good for hours, then all the sudden it will shut off for like a minute or so... Is that normal? I don't remember it ever doing that before, what could be the problem, I took it apart and saw nothing wrong with it.

Im not all that familiar with the FX5 but it has an auto purging function iirc. Is it possible that one of your seals is allowing air into the canister and it is shutting off to purge itself? Have you tried lubricating your seals with vaseline?

If it is bothersome you can unplug it at about 2am and then plug it back in that way it will purge itself around that same time everyday. Its totally normal.

Tank Setup 135gal, fx5, mag350, korilla 4, 3 silver dollars, 3 Red blood parrots, 12" Green severum, 10 coreys (3 emerald & 7 swarts), 2 black spotted eels, 22" fire eel, 24" clown knife, sun catfish, and leopard plaeco

Yeah, I'll probably end up doing that, because right now it's purging at about 1pm or so.
