When I got my 265 I am currently repairing a couple weeks ago it came with 2 fx5’s. I am almost done finishing my tank so I’m trying to put one of my fx5’s in my rbp tank to get some bacteria started so I can get the new tank cycled faster. The filter is primed and starts pumping for a couple minutes just fine then turns off. I have checked the impeller for sand and can’t find any. Do any of you know what could be causing the stoppage? I have never had one before so don’t really know where to start. I can unplug it and plug it back in and it will start right back up which doesn't make sense.

Have you left it alone for a minute after it shuts off? The FX5 shuts off after a minute of filtering to remove excess air. I'm pretty sure it does it every 24 hours after that to purge as well. It should come back on after a minute. If not... well then I'm stumped.

Johnny is right, when you first plug it in it runs a couple minutes then stood, let's the air purge then fires up, 24 hours after it repeats

I have read the replies and it is working now. I bought it used off Craig’s list so I was worried it may be broken, and didn’t come with a manual to check. While as a man, manuals are a pain to read it is far less manly to read it thank seek assistance. I just did not want to run it dry and risk burning out the pumps. I worked at a pool in high school and we burnt more than a couple pumps.
