i have an fx5 and i am unsatisfied with the tubing. to me it seems cheap and flimsy and is ribbed inside. i was wondering if i could use clear braided tubing like the stuff from flexpvc.com and just hose clamp the tubing onto the attachments. has anyone done this? i would then junk their inputs and outputs and make like bitteraspects and do my own.

is this DIY or setup/filtration? iono i think it goes here....

1" braided tubing works great - just set one up like that. Heating the tubing up with a hairdryer or heat gun and wetting the inside makes it a breeze to fit on the valving.

There's a website dedicated to modding FX5s. I don't remember the address though... google it

you mean make the intake and output out of hard pvc right? or are you telling me to use hard pvc instead of braided tubing? cuz i was totally gonna do tha first thing. of course i read your ac mod!

not exactly the same as the AC mod, but similar.
you can either slide the 3/4" PVC into the ribbed tubing, or get hose barbs and a short piece of vinyl tubing to connect the PVC to the FX5.
