Just bought a brand new FX5 with 2 boxes of biomax, carbon, and polishing pads for under $250 US from a LFS! I know I got a good deal for all the stuff I got.

Lose the polishing pads and carbon to ease the head aches down the road. But, yes, $250 is a good deal.

What would you recommend putting in there instead? I already have a sump on my 210, just adding the FX5 for additional filtration.

All three trays of bio. If you want a "polisher", I would use the blue pads.

With weekly water changes there would be no reason to use a polisher. IMO

Yep. The Hagen rep was there and I was going to buy it online due to being $10 cheaper but he threw in a bunch of media at no charge so I couldn't turn that down. Can't wait to have it up and running.
