The bubbles have slowly started to increase over the past month. Am I supposed to lube a certain part to solve this issue? Also, is the product I attached good to use?

No, you shouldn't need to lube anything in a canister filter. Sometimes you can lube the seals if they're being pushed out of place when you close it up, but that's rare. Or if there's just a connection that's too stiff. I've used petroleum jelly for that in the past, it's pretty non-toxic. I wouldn't use what is in your picture.

thanks where are the seals? Are we talking about the two hose connections which clamp to the canister filter?

There is a leak somewhere on the negative pressure part of the filter. I have a Fluval 204 that did the same thing. I could never figure it out until one day I saw a drip coming from one side while the filter was off for a water change. Since it was off, there head pressure on the filter that was able to push the water out. I took apart and reassembled the filter five times before I figured out that the canister itself had a hairline crack. My filter was an old one so I couldn’t get a replacement part for it and had to trash the filter.

Long story short, there is a leak somewhere. Try turning the filter off for 10-15 minutes and see if you can see any drips coming from anywhere on the filter. If that doesn’t work, then I would recommend replacing all of the o-rings and lubing them up with silicon grease.

Good luck!

I just bought an fx6 within the past couple of months and leaned if there was any sag in the hoses it would keep air in the lines, it may be a seal issue, but I would make sure the hoses go directly up from the canister as much as possible. I took the sag out of my lines simply by propping them upt tosee if it was the issue.

I inspected for leaks and didn't see any. I did clean it out and noticed snails galore in the canister. Malaysian trumpet snails. Cleaned out what I could and will check again tomorrow for bubbles. No sag with the hoses I made sure of this during the initial set up.

Can someone recommend the appropriate grease to purchase since the one I have is not safe? It does say waterproof on the one I have pictured here.

Are you using any filter floss? The only time I had microbibbles was when I used floss and it had clogged up completely.
