Fx6 problems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's all in the operator 99% of the time as they work good if you know what you are doing and how to set them up and maintain them! Make sure everything is sealed properly as it's most likely coming from your lid and how the pipe is seated inside it.

I second a very light coating of silicon grease on your gaskets, if you suspect you have a small leak that is letting air into your system. Maybe a pinhole sized hole somewhere on your supply line that is acting as a venturi?

I have had my FX-6 for a little over a year now and have not had a single issue with it, works like a charm.... I actually prefer it to my Eheim because of the filter layout and ease to get it primed...

For the most part yes. The vast majority of threads with problem Eheim are the fancy models. The classucs don't have any difficulty to speak if because they are simple. Just like most problem Fluval threads are on FX. Because they have design issues where all of the smaller ones do not.

The x6 I have came highly recommended by my LFS guy. I haven't had an opportunity to complain for the past two years that I've had it. That said, I've never had problems with my Eheims either.

if you shut it off and restart it do the bubbles go away for awhile or start immediately? If they stop for a few hours then you may not have a problem at all. There's an inherent design issue with filters that have the pump in the wrong place. (The bottom) FX filters have a timer built in and shut off every 24 hours so air can escape. Next time get an Eheim and you will be happier.

Yet another misinformation about Eheim being fail proof. Should I dig up a recent thread about a leaking Eheim ?
