A majority of fish caught from the Philippines have been caught using the cyanide method which leads to death, so be caution of buying fish that comes from the Philippines!! for example the bicolor angel, harlequin tusk, and powder brown tang.

this is definately not news.. but i suppose everybody should be reminded

Thanks for the reminder.

always good to be reminded. i've had success with a tusk from phillipines though. aus ones a little out of my price range. watch the fish in the LFS carefully, and over a period of time if you can.

You can now buy net-caught (cyanide-free) fish from the Philippines. But you must ask the seller for a certification from the MAC (Marine Aquarium Council). Many of us have been fighting for, or supporting, local efforts to educate ornamental fisherfolk about the dangers of cyanide fishing, and the much wiser alternatives, net-fishing and line-casting.
