I know that the common belief is (and I dont argue with that) these should be converted to marine as they mature. I have also heard from one man that he kept one for two years in pure fresh water but it was sold and then converted to marine.
My question is, to those of you that have this species in fresh water.
How long have you kept this eel in fresh water, how big is it, and have you noticed any negative effects of long term fresh water environment.

Thanks

when i was still a noob keeper i tried keeping one, and it died within about 2 - 3 weeks...

I've heard of people here who said they managed to keep them alive for over a year or two in freshwater, but personally i try it... seems like out of maybe 30 people, 2 or 3 people said they've HEARD it works from friends, but i've not actually seen it done myself so i don't really believe it...
