I usually don't go to the auctions,just because it takes too long. You get a chance to view the fish, but than you have to sit around and wait for that fish to come up to auction, than you can bid on it. I've actually left last time I went to one before the fish I wanted came up. Keep in mind that it is cichlid only.
I would highly recommend the swap meet though. There you can get anything, filters, driftwood, plants, and ALL KINDS of fish, not just cichlids, for great prices. You can also bargain with the vendors to get an even better deal. Show up early, as alot of the good stuff goes fast. You can find all sorts of cichlids as well as catfish, polypterus, etc. and my friend has a table there who will be selling NGT's and Endlicheri.

I will be there. Prabalby get there around 9:30. There is a pretty cool store around that area too. Aquarium Adventures. Its pricey, but its still nice.

I saw that guy there last time. Darmili's Dragon Fish I think? He had some real cool stuff. Good prices too. If you don't want to wait around for the good stuff, you can buy a priority sticker($3) and put it on the bag you want to bid on. Thats what I usually end up doing. Speeds things up.
