Hi, Got a bunch of SH the other day that were sold as "Blueberry Snakeheads" (where do they get these names from?).

I am trying to id them.
I have pretty much come to the conclusion they are Gachua, and i also am feeling the laos variety . . .?

Anyhow if someone could confirm the variant for me that would be fantastic.

Here are some pics:

As in the pictures the body has a blue/purple-ish tint and the edges of the fins are yellow.

Cheers in advance.

i have not seen one that matches that one perfectly , it certainly has a lot of blue in it. ive seen some similar but on close inspection none have the same colour and shading throughout the dorsal , i would suspect its one of the many new species being collected at the moment , its def gachua and i would say not from anywhere in india as it lacks the red eye shadow. but that is as much as i can pin it down to .

cheers col

is it not the 'galaxy blue' that they had at wharf a while ago ? cracking SH though

I'm really not sure.
But isn't a Galaxy Blue a variant of Stewartii?
I'm 90% sure this is Gachua.

But It is an awesome SH, the photo doesn't really do it justice. It is at about 6" right now.

One thing that I have noticed, of all the SH I own I have NEVER seen such an aggresive SH!
I thought Gachuas were "relatively" peaceful! This one is most defo not.
He goes for your hand like crazy at feeding time.

yeah i remember now i think your right ! lol i had a gachua that was really quiet and peaceful but i've read about a smaller variant that is very aggressive so maybe that is what you have
