We Kolkatans are lucky to have a weekly pet market each Sunday at Galiff street, near the Shyambazar 5 point crossing. Pet lovers and sellers of exotic dogs, fishes, birds, plants and many other species come here very early in the morning. Even the people who visited the famous Chatuchok market of Thailand earlier got excited and amazed seeing this pet market. There are occasionally many foreign tourists visited this market. This is mainly a wholesale market, but now a days many hobbyists buy from the market. You can get good things at cheaper rates here. Even the marine stocks are displayed in plasticbags for the day long, perhaps only in this place.
We, members of KOLKATA AQUARIUM CLUB, visit this place each Sunday and update the livestock and prices in our forum. We usually call the Sunday as the Galiffday.
