Galvanized- pros and cons?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've have.

Paint it or clean it, put some biologicals in it and age it (about a year).

I still wouldn't use them for fragile fish tho.

Thanks.

Could i avoid this by putting a lair of pond liner over it?

Thanks again,
Art

Sure, that's even faster.

Put water in slowly so you can get the folds straight (having help at this point is a plus).

galvanized is alright with neutral pH but will leach zinc if pH unstable. Got info from water catchment systems w/o liners.

man i live on a farm and we keep gold fish and koi in water truoghs to reduce algy and for somthing to do i geuss but i was just gunna ask about this because i have some red belly pirahnas that are out growing there tank and im just wondering about this leeching zink thing does anyone know details on this subject i have sevral large troughs that have been siting outside for alot longer than a year please fill me in

Check your tap water and rain's pH. zinc reacts with both acids and alkalis when the pH fluctuates.

Funny part about putting gdish in the tanks is they promote the algae growth :D.
