Okay, I read Jed's HDTV article, and although I'm still a little lost, I've got a few ideas of what I'm looking for in an HDTV now i.e. at least 2 HDMI ports, 1080I input, etc...

Sooo I'm finally going to make the leap to HD, getting something between 27" and 32". I'm also getting an xbox 360 elite.

Sooo, what do fellow gamers have? Pluses, gripes?

Oh, I'll be selling my new samsung 906bw 19" widescreen monitor after I get the TV since I'll be using it as a pc monitor, and TV. If anyone is interested they can hit me up about that.

TIA

LOL!

For me I'm hoping the minimum size I get is a 42" LCD. No Plasma or DLP. And when i do the jump it's has to be 1080p. Getting 1080i seems like u kinda stopped short of the best.

See? I knew I needed your help, my fuzzy memory made me forget which was better, 1080i or 1080p

Thanks!

So far I'm looking at Vizio VX37L 32" $899 and Sharp Aquos 32" $899

Both support 1080p, although the xbox only uses 1080i I believe?

yes 1080p is better.

I know Xbox is only 1080i but think of the big picture. You're not jumping into HD solely for the xbox are u? think of the Hi def Movies. not saying 1080i is bad, just saying 1080p is better.

oh and get Bluray! the PS3 is the best bang for buck for what u get with it.

Hopefully circuit city has vizio close enough to the sharp because the sharp aquos has really rich color and I want to compare the two.

You're right though, the 42" are only a few hundred bucks more, so it probably would be a good idea to go with the larger size, I'm worried about space, but if I wall mount it, I guess it won't be a big deal. This tv is going in my bedroom.

BlueRay!! More capacity, forward looking tech. How could anyone pick HDDVD???

I will be getting an HDDVR with HDMI output.

x-box has far seperior on line play, HD is going to take over because sony fails on anything it releases that no one eles has like beta and mini disks come on Bill Gates proved with the releasing of HALO 3 which is a better consol. oh and i have a 102" over head 1080I LCD projector conected to my cambridge audio reciver and it rocks. I have friends who have traded there playstations in for x-boxes saying they would never go back. Good example Transformers is comming out today in HD. 177,687 people playing team slayer on halo last night at 7:00 dis agree with the playstation idea. ALso the x-box elite has the same memory as the PS3

Right now it's all up to the movie studios to pick which one they have their movies on, and if you drop into any bestbuy or CC it's easy to see the battle is far from over.

Sony's other ideas have failed because there was already an established market for the new media type they were trying to introduce, so it wasn't practical to make the switch.

With the bluray format, there is no established market, thus the battle between the two for supremacy.

When you compare the stats between the two (considering you pay the same price for both) we're cheating ourselves as consumers if we support the HDDVD format.
