I had a couple of my buddies helped me to set my new 125g tank on the stand today. I realized that there are gaps here and there in between the stand and the tank. I am concerning about the stress factor which will possibly lead to cracking of the tank in the future, once the tank fill with sand substrate and water. How do you recommend to fill or fix the gap in between them to make it completely level? I am using a hard cardboard box paper to fill in the gap for now, until I find a good solution to fix it.

Any feedbacks and inputs from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

insulation foam from homedepot.. its like $15 for a 8x4 sheet

what do you mean.. or Where exactly are the gaps? Is it a flat top stand? or an open top stand?

home depot usuially stock 1/2" and 3/4" sheets... i like the 1/2".. i put one under the tank and one under stand (thats just due to nothing in my house being level).. one under the tank is usuially all you need

Is this the trim that has the gap or is it the glass? If it's the trim the yes there is a problem and it needs to be fixed. If the trim is fully seated and your talking about the glass not touching don't worry about it. The stress cracking the glass would be from the trim not sitting fully to support the tank not from the glass not touching the stand. Using foam is good for leveling out a tank to some degree. If there are many gaps between the tank trim and the stand you could always get some wood putty. Spread it over the stand and sand it level.

I just got my tank set up this morning. I am cycling right now.

I have an open top stand. The gap is in between the trim the the stand. I got an installation instruction from Visio Aquarium. What they recommend is to take cardboards or a similar hard flat material and insert it in the open gap so they are full. I used the leveling to ensure the tank is level all around dimension and inserted the cardboards into any open spaces. The tank is resting very firmly on the stand even if you rock it hard, it is not moving a bit.
