I noticed the other day that my 125 gallon tank had a gap in the bottom trim. Its not cut or broke. Looks like it was that way from the factory. Gap is roughly 1/8" wide. Below is a photoshop pic i made up to give an example of what i mean. top trim doesnt have a gap like that. Is this normal?

No its not i would try to fill it in if you can

I would use epoxy, that is suppost to be one solid piece from the manufacture...

It's just trim! It's not structural! If it's on the back where no one sees it don't worry about it! It's just a factory screw up.

Right, not structural. I have a few used aquariums that have broken trim. No problem.
Especially in that area. It is supported on either side of the gape so should be fine. A patch would have to be perfectly matched to do any good. Something soft like silicone isn't going to support anything.(although I have done it anyway) and something hard must be exactly the same size and compression strength as the trim. If you wedge something in that's too short (or too soft) it won't do anything. If it is too tall (or too hard) it will lift the glass in that area more than others and cause stress and cracking.
Leave it alone. Show the ugly side to the wall.

Ok if its going to be a show tank go to ur LFS tell them you need the Trem for a 125, you take the old trem off with a razor blad then get some silicon and just silicon on the new trem. the trem is about 30$ for that size and like 5$ for the Silicon. IME its not worth the trouble though. I agree with Spankbelly
