Amazing collection of gars there E ! That Tropical and Spotted really makes me green with envy ! I think you feed them spaghetti and jimmy dean twice a day.
great looking gars! they definitely look VERY well fed too
i must say the t-gars look really good as well.
given the pics we have here, and recent museum study that i worked on (with polypterus) on spotted vs Florida gar comparisons (with several specimens of varying sizes) i would say all these gars are Florida gars. the snout on the last one seems a bit longer than the other two, and gar #2 definitely has a shorter snout, but this all seems within the range of variation in Florida gar snout length/width. a spotted gar of the same size SHOULD have a longer, narrower snout, at least with what we have seen from the wild specimens. captivity, however, may play a role in snout development though, so we're still working on that and will know more by the end of this year.
again, good looking gars for sure; and i would say they're all Floridas... how many gars do you have total there, 6? that's my kind of collection --

Yes, that's 6 total, although I'd like to get my hands on a couple of the other species. Longnosed and Cuban are high on the list. Gars are definitely one of my favorites. They have a ton of character and I think are highly underrated. I look forward to hearing news about your studies.
