Gar and Bichir Sizes?

Will an 8" Tropical Gar live with a 16" Ornate Bichir.. ??? 180g tank with nothing else in it..

What about a tropical gar with passive cichlids like Firemouths?

The gar and the Bichir will be fine...I would avoid the cichlids all together though. It's typically just not a great idea one way or the other.

The trop will catch up to the ornate pretty quickly. I'd avoid the cichlids unless you don't mind missing a few once the gar gets large enough. My 20 inchers can easily down large firemouth cichlids. The trops are only a couple of years old.

mine lived with large ornates and endlicheri... not its with a white saum that likes to fin nip...not sure on fire mouths but i had good luck with frontosa...

Mine is with a big Ornate and Endlicheri as well. It's also living with a big Front and does great. I would never try any other cichlids though.
