hey guys, i have a 8-9 inch florida gar and a 9-10 inch senegal bichir. my heater in my tank is crap and will only heat it up between 69 and 73 degrees. is that low a temp bad for them? i know i should go out and just buy a new heater but i just dont have the $$ right now. any help would be nice. thanks

Well, both fish are hardy, but it could pose a problem for the polypterus... the florida is more likely to tolerate it, I'd still recommend getting a heater ASAP in case it malfunctions.

x2.

Bichirs prefer temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's, and Florida gar are comfortable at those temperatures, too.

do a lot of hot water changes until it gets up to the right temp.
