I have a chance to get a 8 inch flagtaila and jw if it could get along with my two floridas gars about 10-12 inchs. Dose any one keep these two combo together. Thanks

no they do not mix. the flagtail will suck the gars slimecoat and possibly kill it

Yup, a well-known "no-no" as far as combinations go.

Depends on the fishes personality. But. I had a 10inch Spotted and a 5inch flag tail and no problems at all. My gar ended up jumping out the tank due to my frt picking on him. But noe I have a 4inch gator gar and the flag tail is at 6inches. No problems yet. And if you must wonder. Of my other tank mates. FRT,FLAGTAIL,AFRICAN SCAT, THINBAR DATS, SILVER ARROWANA, KELBERI, TSN.

You'll never have problems until the flagtail accidentally or intentionally bumps the gar and gets a taste of its slime coat. Many people think the combo is safe but the fact is that it's a gamble because once the flagtail realizes the slime coat is suckable it will kill the gar in about a night.

Not worth doing.

I have a school of 5 flagtail size range from 8-10" and doesn't bother my bichir or gars. They would rather eat algae than ganoid scaled slime coat. Many already done this combo with success. Compare to a pleco that once it got a taste for slime coat, it become addicted. Flagtails somehow don't get addicted as long as it gets proper feeding.
