Every thing was fine, they all lived happily together for 3 months until a couple of days ago when my Florida Gar died - one side of his fin got torn off from the other Florida Gar attacking it the day before, and then it lay on its side for a day before dying. Then yesterday, I came back to find my Bala Shark swimming upside down - one of his eyes was covered in blood and on the edge of popping out, so I had no other choice but to euthanize him.

Whats going on? Is my Gar really that aggressive?

Seems like it.

What's your tank size? Are they starting to outgrow the tank? Cos' if they are then the surviving gar is probably more dominant than the one it killed earlier and the bala shark is just another victim.

Seems like a poor choice of tankmate. Too silvery.

^yep

Seems your FLORIDA(young) had a change in the tank hierarchy, and he became violent. gar like to bite silvery fish

bala sharks are bad tank mates with gars..firstly gars like to bite silvery fish like everyone said and bala sharks can spook the gar easily and the gar might break its back...what are fishes you have in that tank

At the moment, only the one Gar and a Black Ghost Knife Fish.

I think the Florida was just getting rid of unwanted tenants. Should be fine now.

alright, good. hopefully it will stay that way.

Sounds like the tank was to small.
