One of my two alligator gars is suffering from something that looks almost like dropsy. This started a few weeks ago with just his eyes bulging, but has worsened to include pinecone-ing scales. I initially tried treating with a little bit of aquarium salt and melafix, but it never cleared up. He hasn't been eating recently, and the bulging scales have gotten slightly worse. I may try a higher dose of salt without the melafix and see if he shows improvement.
