GAR GEAR!

for those of you who are really into gars, i was able to convince emily damstra, one of the artists who let us use her gar images for lepisosteidae.net to produce a line of products via cafe.press...that way anyone can get the 7 species on t-shirts, bags, etc.

i already have an art print, and will likely be ordering quite a bit from the new line of stuff. anyway, you won't find much gar stuff like this anywhere else right now, so i figured i would give you all a head's up.

i will be putting up the link on LEPnet sometime soon as well. just shows that with a little effort we can get more publicity for gars...not just the usual bass/sunfish/other game fishes!--

no, unfortunately not. she graduated from UM and did quite a bit of biological illustration work in inverts and fishes, but not many exotic fishes. you can see a lot of her work (i think all the prints she has available) via the link on LEPnet. perhaps sometime in the future i'll be able to get her to do some other primitive fishes stuff--

for her, it's business...she does scientific illustration for her livelihood...for me, it's just helping her out since she let me use her illustrations for my site. i also plan on buying some stuff, just need to figure out how not to blow too much money on gar attire for every day of the year!

one of the benefits, however, is in fact promoting gars or increasing public awareness in a "what the heck kind of fish is that on your shirt" kind of way--
