I've had these guys together for quite some time now and never had any problems until now. Just noticed it this morning, my sens left pectoral fin was totally ripped off I grabbed my phone and took pics. Moved him to my hospital tank already. Damn. The sen is 9" and the gar around 16". Im gonna sell my gar because my sens have already stopped growing at 9" and 7". Should have predicted this. My 11" lap is in there as well. I dont think he could be the culprit because the sen isnt much smaller than his mouth. But the gar's mouth isnt big enough to fit the sen in as well. But if you look closely theres some skin like ripped. Im not sure how this could have happened since theres a part of the tank where the gar couldnt fit and thats where the sens tend to hang out.

That looks pretty serious but not life threatening. Not going to grow back to normal since the gar bit to the end of the stump.

Yeah the gar learned how to eat food from the bottom of the tank which are supposed to be for the bichirs. He eats everything they couldnt get first and now hes trying to eat my bichirs. Damn. He's up for sale now.

Wow. Looks amputated. Poor sen. He'll be ok. Wont make him look pretty but will make him look like he's been around the block a few times lol.

It'll grow back just fine. Polys are some of the few animals capable of regenerating bone, at least in the pectoral fins. Its been a subject of study for a while. I have a sen who's pectorals were completely removed and have grown back with no issue or deformity. Good luck with sale!

It should grow back I saw someone document his when the whole stump was bit off and it grew all the way back to its previous size.

But the fin will not look like what it used to be. I had my albino bite off 3/4 of my delhezi's fins and it did grow back to normal size but the fins didn't look even. That gar bite looks more serious.

WC and aquarium salt can help.
