thanks. it's my tank... it's not filthy, it's just really dark, lots of plastic grass i put on top of the tank, with no lighting plus it's just a phone cam.

exactly.

or the hundreds of other threads that ID florida gars.

sorry guys but i don't have the eyes to differentiate the gar species among each other, all i noticed is that this one i bought has a slimmer snout than my alligator gar. that's it. it's a shame but i just can't tell the difference. i don't know. sorry to bother you all anyways.

its all good man! yep florida like everyone said. just try to study the stickys for future reference man!!
and now for ur official welcome to the gar club :welcome:

i think he's had a Florida gar and gator gar before...or at least one of the two.

to the OP, i realize it does definitely take time to learn the IDs on the fish, but it definitely helps to at least pose a guess with what you have or to at least show that you've looked at the references.
this is not meant to be stuck up when several of us say "do a search" or "look at the pinned topics"...this is why previous threads are there. that and it's not like we are dealing with catfishes or minnows or cichlids...groups with many many more species...gars only have 7 extant species. if you are going to keep them, it helps to read up on them ahead of time and learn what you can.

best of luck with this one; Floridas are probably the best all-around gar for captivity and especially for gar-beginners.--
