I'm thinking about buying some more gar from a guy and I was just wondering what type they were? He says the two that are the same are Florida and the other is a Alligator, is he right? I'm new to gar and only have a small Florida, but it doesn't look anything like those two...

I want those shortnose!!! Will you buy ine and ship it to me. One of the last species I need

What is the third one, a Florida or an Alligator? I'm new to gar so don't really know what to look for yet besides the 2nd row of teeth that the gator has. Might even be wrong on that, lol

He wanted $60 for the pair of Florida, but now that they're shortnose, would that still be good for both of them? They're both like 12"...

That is a very reasonable price... However I'd be wary of them. Moving shorts of that size often just messes them up. They will frequently go off feeding and will often be very touchy and skittish for the first few weeks. It is very worth it but keep in mind you might have a bit of work on your hands before they settle in.

Those shorty's are very nice...nice fat Florida as well. Judging by all those goldfish I'm guessing these gars eat feeders only.

We just went through 4 months of this with ours...and it was the most stressful fish I have ever dealt with. Knowing mine is now eating well I have to say he is one of my favorites. Also...keep in mind, that I consider myself an experienced gar keeper and I still had a ton of work trouble with my shorty. If you haven't kept gar before, the shorty's may not be the best choice, they certainly are cool though.
