I saw this on aquabid. He's selling supposed Long-nose gars, and I wanted to find out if that's what they actually are before I were to buy any. Here's the link with a picture: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwusnative&1245632568

Also, if these aren't longnose gars, does anyone know where I might find 1 or 2 small ones? Around 7-12 inches? Or any shortnose or spotted gars?

Thanks,
Conner
Those look like longnose to me... Let me know if you're gonna get em cause i'm about to buy these guys right now. :headbang2

I think he has more than 2 available, so feel free. I think I am going to get a couple though. :)

They look like longnose to me as well. I'm a little worried by this line:

These are the same longnose gar that others are selling as marble line gar, however, there is no such known varity of gar. You can verify that on google or wikipedia if you would like. Know what you buy, know what you sell.

"Marble line gar" usually refers to striped pike characin, Boulengerella lateristriga, which these fish clearly are not. Just seems odd.

these are tricky, but i am going to go with Florida gars, especially if he ordered them. look at the pinned topics and refer to the juvenile gar keys. longnose should have somewhat a longer snout at this stage and thinner caudal peduncle. again, kinda tricky as i have mainly been dealing with other species lately. if they are wildcaught from IN they wouldn't be FLg's, but i don't get that impression given the info--
